In May of 2022, I had the amazing opportunity of traveling to Playa del Carmen, Mexico to photograph Payton and Jordan’s Mexican destination wedding. Their wedding was held at an all-inclusive resort called The Fives Beach Resort and Residences. I stayed at the hotel for a total of 4 nights where I got to enjoy the included meals at a number of restaurants, walk on the beach, and swim in the pool. The best part of my trip though (obviously) was getting to photograph Payton and Jordan’s special day.
The day started out with Payton getting ready with all of her girls in their hotel room. I arrived while hair and makeup was still being done so that I could photograph all of the important details like Payton’s dress, shoes, invitation suite, etc. After that, we got to take some fun photos of all the girls in their super cute pajamas and robes. They blasted some confetti poppers on the bed and when we were taking photos outside, we even saw a lemur-like creature! Next, I photographed Jordan getting ready with his guys and then we did their First Look in the coolest area – a boardwalk bridge that went through the Mexican jungle.
Unfortunately we didn’t get the best weather on their wedding day; it was stormy with clouds, wind, and eventually rain but thankfully the weather held out during the ceremony so Payton and Jordan were able to have their ceremony outside with their enormously beautiful arch and the ocean behind them. We were even able to get all of their portraits done before it started raining (so lucky). We ended the night with an indoor reception and they danced the night away.
Destination weddings are so much fun and I’m so fortunate to be a destination wedding photographer. I loved getting to photograph Payton and Jordan’s wedding in Playa del Carmen, Mexico and I hope to have more destination weddings in other countries in the future.
